“Christmas Trees for Good Cause?”

“Dear PoPville,

Are you (or your readers) aware of any organizations in DC that sell Christmas trees to support a good cause? We’d love for our purchase to support a charity, if at all possible. Happy Holidays!”

Besides 6th Engine I’ve gotten a lot of emails from Elementary Schools having fundraiser tree sales – Ross – 17th and R St, NW; Bancroft – 18th and Newtwon St, NW; Eaton – 3301 Lowell Street NW. If you know of others please add in the comments.

  • Support a local DC elementary school.

Ross Elementary School is holding their Annual Holiday Tree Sale this year on the following dates and times:

Trees will be available at Ross Elementary in sizes ranging from 2-foot table tops to 10-feet high. We only sell the highest quality “#1 Frasier Fir” trees unlike the big corporate companies selling trees in the area.

Delivery Service Is Available on Saturday and Sunday Only ($10 delivery fee for up to 6-7’ trees or $20 for trees 7-8’ and greater). All proceeds benefit the Ross Elementary PTA.

  • The Bancroft Elementary School (18th and Newton) sale is December 5 and 6 from 10-4, they always have trees of different sizes plus wreaths and roping.

  • West Education Campus
Right on 14th St NW Between Farragut St and Gallatin St
    Saturday December 5th from 9am – 4pm
    Sunday, December 6th from 9am – 4pm

We’re a Title 1 school, and all profits go directly to supporting our students and teachers.

  • Brent Elementary also sells trees and wreaths. You can pick them up or they will deliver to your house if you live around Capitol Hill. They will even pick one out for you if you don’t care enough to. I did that last year and it was a great tree!

  • The Latin American Montessori Bilingual (LAMB) Public Charter School is having a tree, wreath and garland sale on December 5 and 6. There will be trees, wreaths, and garlands of many sizes and varieties. LAMB’s mission is to create a self-directed learning environment in which children build a foundation of knowledge essential for a life time of learning while developing bi-literacy in English and Spanish. The school serves 340 students from pre-school through 5th grade, and students come from all eight wards across the District of Columbia.

The event will be held at LAMB’s South Dakota campus at 1800 Perry Street NE. Proceeds support programs for teachers and students.

More information and a pre-order form are available at the below link:

  • Anyone know where to get one in Truxton Circle area? Does the Bloomingdale Farmer’s Market have them on the weekends? Would obviously prefer to buy from a school/charity, but will be getting one either way.

    • The Bloomingdale market is done for the season. I saw some rumor that Big Bear may be doing trees again, but their holiday market isn’t until 12/19 which is kinda late for tree sales. One of the market vendors sold trees on a couple December weekends 5-6 years ago. Not sure if the rumor is that returning this year.

    • 6th Engine is a pretty easy walk down 4th to Mass Ave from Truxton (if you’re not getting a really big tree).

  • Lovely wreaths (with berries & pine), door swag, custom made bows and 15′ garland are being sold by the non-profit Historic Congressional Cemetery on Capitol Hill. Prices $20-$25.

  • West Education Campus is selling trees on the weekends at 14th and Farragut Streets. All proceeds go directly to the school.
