Not a good Monday morning commute for many. Latest from Metro Transit Police:

“Stadium update 5: As of 10a, DCFD & MTPD remain o/s Stadium with smoke coming from power substation. Effort to mitigate continues. #wmata”

Previously metro tweeted:

“OR/SV/BL passengers expect delays in both directions, FD activity at Stadium-Armory, station is temporarily closed. 9:08a #wmata”

  • It was a mess this morning, in addition to this, overcrowding at Gallery Place was so bad that a metro employee would not allow access to the platform in the direction of shady grove when I got there. If you are able to telework on the 23 and 24, please do so in the interest of those who cannot.

  • This has adversely affected the D6, X2, and 30 buses. Severe overcrowding at bus stops. The D6 morning couldn’t even pick up kids heading to school. Yay metro!

    • Yikes. I was lucky enough to get a bus this morning. I think the closure had just been announced. I wonder how the commute home will be?

  • On behalf of WMATA, I’d like to welcome the Pope to town.
