    Wow. Get home safe everyone.

  • Which streets?

  • Sheesh…
not too often you hear about the autos being used in the streets
yes, they are out there but typically you dont hear about them getting used much
    hope nobody was seriously injured

    • Mandatory minimum 30 year sentence when used in a crime of violence.

      • Just curious, is there a crime where an automatic weapon is used and violence isn’t involved?

        • Tsar of Truxton

Simple possession? If you are caught with one in your trunk, you are getting arrested, but that mandatory minimum would not apply.

        • if you fire them in National Parks for kicks or to take aim at trigger trash, apparently no

        • I don’t have the statute in front of me, but the language might be something more along the lines of “the use or carrying of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence or drug trafficking.” I’m not sure whether there could be a crime where an automatic weapon is “used” that wouldn’t be a crime of violence. Maybe something like the unlawful discharge of a firearm in some specific area (national park) where a person is target shooting as opposed to committing a violent act on another person. But I’m just speculating.

          • You’re talking about 18 USC 924(c)…it covers using, carrying, or possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime or crime of violence. Minimums start at five years and go up for semi-autos (10 yrs), silencers (30 yrs) and machine/autos (30 yrs).

AlertDC says “Shooting at 1503 hrs in the 5000 block of Eastern Avenue, NE. No Lookout.”

Just got DC text alert for shooting at 5000 block of Eastern Ave NE reported at 3:03 PM; I presume that is the location. If correct, holy f*, that is insane. Eastern dead ends there at the DC catholic church’s offices right there, and across the street is Fort Circle Park – this is generally a very quiet, peaceful residential street; I have friends right around the corner on that block of Gallatin.

  • Any more info on this? I live in Michigan Park and am looking for more info before I head home. Thx.

  • This is crazy…quietest corner of DC.

  • Never thought I’d say this…Is it winter yet????

  • What. the. our daughter’s freaking school is right around there. thank god school doesn’t start until Monday, but holy wow.

  • We need jobs not jails!

There’s this new place up the street with me that might have a couple openings for luthiers next year.

  • What does it mean when MPD says “no lookout”?

  • I’m sure the mayor loved this headline on the day she announced her “crime crackdown” today.

  • Map includes North Michigan Park.

  • Not sure if it was related or not, but we just had a slew of shots fired close to this time frame – a super quick succession of about 6 shots on one corner (maybe automatic, I don’t know – all I know is that it was a lot in a row), a car sped through an alley, popped off another few rounds 2 blocks away. This is highly unusual for Mt. Rainier. I wonder if there is a connection of the same people?
