Almost Very Bad News For One of the Best Liquor, Wine and Cheese Stores in DC

calvert Woodley
4339 Connecticut Ave, NW

The property home to Calvert Woodley Fine Wines & Spirits has sold for $6.76 million according to the Washington Business Journal. Thank God they report the owner saying:

“To move the store was almost impossible. So then I was approached by Polinger, and we agreed to have the store remain here, and they would just purchase the land and maybe do something in the distant future. We’ve got the equivalent of a 30- to 35-year lease.”

  • While I wouldn’t mind more being done with that property, losing the store would really suck. So glad to hear it will continue to provide my alcohol buzzes well into the future.

  • OMG !!! Thank you!!!

  • Thank goodness! This neighborhood needs some help. Bread furst and the liquor store are great

I heard that the rock and roll Burger King is on it’s way out to be replaced by a chik fil a within 3 years. Any idea what’s coming to the walgreens space?

  • Best liquor store in dc. Best prices. Most miserable cashiers in DC.

    • Actually Margruders in Chevy Chase is slightly better in terms of price, as well as liquor and beer selection. But C and W definitely has a superior cheese and charcuterie selection. Both have a good wine selection… as far as I can tell 🙂

  • my husband is very VERY HAPPY!

  • I’ve never felt the beer selection is that good, but for my vodka & gin needs….perfect.

As to that Burger King, I’d love a Wendy’s but a Chik-Fil-A will do. Anything else will do…

  • The beer selection is pretty mediocre, but there are always great sales on liquor, and if you’re throwing a big party, it’s hard to beat their prices on handles.
