From Friends of Screen on the Green:

“Join us for the second feature film of this year’s Screen on the Green summer festival, The Poseidon Adventure, tonight on the National Mall.

A classic disaster movie with a memorable cast led by Gene Hackman, this film follows the fateful journey of the Poseidon, an ocean liner larger than the Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary combined, on its New Year’s Eve voyage. When a tidal wave slams into the vessel and it capsizes, the survivors journey through the upside-down ship in an attempt to survive. You won’t want to miss this action adventure story!

The movie will begin at sunset on a huge 20’x40′ screen on the National Mall between 4th and 7th Streets NW – RAIN OR SHINE! We suggest you arrive early to claim your spot and bring snacks to share with friends.

Join us next Monday at sundown for Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn in Desk Set. He’s an efficiency expert and she’s a marketing genius whose job is threatened by his super computer. Talk about a complicated office romance!”
