  • La Jambe = ice cream

  • Is Shaw Yoga no longer going to be in the white room next to Lost and Found?

    • I’m pretty sure it’s already operating there. I was wondering if this was going to be a more permanent location for them, but have no idea if that’s the case.

      • I spoke to a teacher at Shaw Yoga on 9th and she said that the new one on 7th is not associated with them to her knowledge. Apparently they are just using the same name (didn’t know it was taken?).

  • We are a French wine bar, Charcuterie and Fromagerie.
Looking forward to joining the neighborhood!

  • I just got this message from La Jambe’s Facebook account: Hello neighbor ! We are a French wine bar, Charcuterie and Fromagerie.

  • Some businesses are always better than no businesses, but gentrification means the businesses are really only targeted to the wealthiest folks in the neighborhood. There’s a food bank across from Jefferson Marketplace. It’s too bad that we can’t have businesses in DC neighborhoods that cater to a large population — and are inclusive — rather than just to the affluent.

    • I agree that we need more businesses that can cater to the larger DC population, but I’m very curious what you think those should be here. Within two blocks you already have a new Giant, a convenience store, a carry out restaurant, a 7-11, a barbershop, nail salon, etc.

With the high rent I’m assuming they are charging for these places, I don’t think any other type of business could survive there.

      • A regular, normal, not-at-all-fancy-and-overly-specialized gym for normal folks who just want a damn elliptical or free weights is my dream. Another dry cleaner would be of great help (one seems to be opening up at 8th and P; I hope they can sew a straight seam unlike the cleaners at O & 7th ), as would a dive bar or pub that doesn’t charge $12 for a cocktail or tiny plate of food.
