  • I wouldn’t exactly call it a good deal–it’s small and decrepit–but if you have to live west of the park, it’s about as cheap as a one-bedroom gets.

    • The word that came to my mind is “bleak.” (That kitchen!)

    • Cry me a river. It’s under 1500, it’s not in a basement, it’s not a studio/efficiency. It’s about the same square footage as the newest 1 bedrooms going up in the city. Yes, it has the ugly parquet floors and a microscopic, non-updated kitchen; nothing is fancy and you probably have to live with a wall unit (horrors) and doing you wash in a laundry room. but it’s actually a very good deal.

    • “Decrepit” seems rather strong. Sure, it’s old and not recently updated, but I don’t see anything falling apart, paint peeling, etc., etc.
As DCAliKZ said, “Everyone forgets that not every building needs to be ‘luxury’ to be livable.”

  • I used to live right next to this building in a very similar apartment. Everyone forgets that not every building needs to be “luxury” to be livable. I was able to have a full apartment AND be able to save money. It’s close to Whole Foods, a handful of bars and restaurants. The location is stinky for getting to places like H-Street but you’d have plenty of cash to get an Uber home.

  • I looked at a unit in that building last year. The roof deck is frggin’ incredible (basically the highest area in DC I think). The building as a whole was kind of depressing though. We cooked too much for the small kitchen, and the bedroom in the unit we saw had a really weird old drop ceiling. It was a few floor up, so a better view, and I think they were asking $1600 or a little higher. So this seems like a good deal to me.
