Classic Video Game Tournament at Ivy & Coney Tonight

From an email:

“Ivy and Coney is hosting an old school video game tournament on our sweet arcade system. Think Mortal Kombat, NBA Jams, NHL 94. Everything is sponsored by PBR. There’s March giveaways, tickets to shows, beer specials, etc. Should be awesome.”

  • Old school? That’s not old school. Give me an Atari 2600……Space Invaders, Asteroids, Missile Command, Pitfall!, Defender, Breakout, Frogger……

    • I’m laughing at “old school” ’94 games. Sheesh.

Those games aren’t really conducive for tournament play though.

      • I’m a little ashamed that I know this – but it’s fairly common for those games to be part of tournaments. You just have to use high scores rather than head-to-head winners, if that’s what you’d meant. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to re-examine my life…

    • Fair enough on the old school. Our machine has 8,000 games. We could have an ET tourney, if you like. Atari, classic arcade, Nintendo, Sega, whatever was made from 1970-2000.

      • That sounds [email protected] To clarify and apologize, I was laughing less at the statement and more at my being old enough to have played what someone would consider “old school” games when I was in high school.

What was that Sega CD game that got banned? I can imagine the DC folks of today being up in arms over that one!

Wish I knew about this earlier. I’d totally go.
