From an email:

“Our Baked&Wired unnamed project opened its doors today [Monday] at 440 K St NW. Same quality baked goods and espresso as Baked&Wired, but fresh bread made right in our open kitchen, booze, and more space to hang out. We’ve paired the right breads with the right ingredients to make some bomb sandwiches.”

  • Here’s an idea, why not call it Baked and Wired??

    • well, I THINK they’re serving a somewhat broader menu than Georgetown. I could be completely wrong but a facebook post of theirs a week or two ago seemed to imply that….

      • NO CUPCAKES. I REPEAT: NO CUPCAKES. Seems like a huge mistake to not serve the one thing Baked & Wired is known for.

  • Looks great. Any word on their hours?

  • Yes!!!!!! Can’t wait to go!!!!

  • From District Source:

    This week only A Baked Joint will be open 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The regular hours after the soft opening period is over will be 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

with all the new coffee places (expansion of existing ‘non chain spots’) one has to think that this is going to turn into the next cupcake fiasco? There can’t be THAT many people who need a $4 cup of coffee regularly…

    • Baked and Wired is more than just coffee – it’s one of the best American-style bakeries I’ve ever been to (i.e., breakfast breads, brownies, cookies, pies, bar cookies). Plus good coffee.

      • And they managed to profit from the cupcake obsession without losing their identity, allowing them to weather the eventual bubble bursting.

        • Good point. They managed to expand their cupcake choices without shrinking their selection of other products or diminishing the quality. I actually don’t like their cupcakes at all, so this has made me very happy.

    • I have two $4 “cups of coffee” (i.e., latte or cappuccino) a day. And I see a ton of people in line with me. Coffee != cupcakes.

    • Yeah, remember Starbucks? What ever happened to them?

    • Just look at the line for any Starbucks in the city. These places offer higher quality coffee for the same price.

      • Last time I got a coffee at Starbucks it was only $1.50 a cup. That’s a far cry from $4.

  • Did I see a sign up this morning around there saying “Le Hommage” or “Les Hommage” or something like that? (I didn’t study French). Is that the bakery from Baked & Wired or the French restaurant to be opened by the folk at Alba Osteria?

  • If they bake legit baguettes I will erect a shrine in their honor.

  • but they won’t have their cupcakes at this location 🙁 🙁 🙁

    • +1 I’m really sad about the no cupcakes. I went in there today, and while they have some great looking stuff, I would love a couple of cupcake options as well. Certainly not the entire inventory like in the Georgetown location, but a few flavors would be nice! Also, I don’t drink caffeine and they don’t have any decaf espresso “yet” 🙁

  • Call it “Stoned and Grounds”
