From an email:

“The kitchen at McClellan’s Retreat is small, but the flavors on the newly redesigned food menu are big! Chef Christopher Morgan (The Partisan) is curating the new menu with snacks & sandwiches including:

– Angostura Beef Jerky ($6)

– Local Ham Board with House Mustard & Peach Mostarda ($14)

– Pork Belly Cuban sandwich – Mojo Pork Shoulder, Homemade Pickles, Swiss & Mustard with Zapp’s Chips ($13)

– Grilled Cheese sandwich ($8 – you can add ham & pepper jelly and chips for $3 more)

– Root Vegetable Escabeche with Farmer’s Cheese, Harissa & Flatbread ($13)

– Garden Panini – Asparagus, Swiss, & Garlic Aioli with Zapp’s Chips ($11)

The upper Dupont watering hole [Florida Avenue & S Street NW] also recently added two new specialty cocktails for the summer months, and has been hosting Game of Thrones watch parties at the bar on Sunday nights.”

  • $8 grilled cheese that doesn’t even come with chips? Where do I sign up for this deal?

  • You lost me at curate.

  • The place hasn’t been opened that long. The menu this “redesigned” one is replacing must have been a real winner!

  • I’ve actually eaten here since the menu has changed and it is very good. Everything is made in house and you can tell that each dish was well thought out. The descriptions above are not clear, but the $8 grilled cheese DOES come with chips. I never understand the negative comments that people leave on these articles. You clearly haven’t given this place a chance.
