From Gordon and Jackie owners of Silver Spring’s Quarry House Tavern:

“We are extremely sad about our temporary loss. Insurance will cover the rebuilding, but may not cover all of the Quarry House Family’s income.

The immortal J.P. McDermott happens to be in town, completely randomly, and has offered to play Saturday night at Jackie’s Restaurant.

The concert will start at 10pm and cost $10. All funds going to Quarry House staff. [Concert at Jackie’s 8081 Georgia Ave Silver Spring, Maryland]”

From Quarry House Tavern’s Facebook page after Thursday’s fire:

“We can’t tell you how touched we are by the outpouring of love and concern for the Quarry House and its staff. We know very little right now about the extent of the damage and when we will be able to reopen. For the time being, we are closed. We hope it’s just a short time, but we will keep you up to date as soon as we know anything more. Much love from the Quarry House family.”

“In answer to the many inquiries, no one was hurt, which is all that really matters. The place is still there, folks, and we will definitely reopen. More news as soon as we have some. Thank you again– we love you all.”

Also an Indiegogo fundraiser to support staff here.

  • If they layoff their employees they should be able to collect unemployment while the bar is closed. Not enough to live off long term but will soften the blow.
