From Bar Pilar:

“We’re old, but we definitely still know how to party! Bar Pilar, the lauded neighborhood restaurant and watering hole, is marking a decade of service at 1833 14th Street NW with a week-long celebration of throwback drinks, favorite dishes and guest bartenders starting on Tuesday, March 17th ending in a 10th Anniversary Party upstairs at the restaurant on Sunday, March 22nd.

“Over the past decade, we have seen 14th Street boom around us, worked with a motley crew of talented individuals who have helped shape the DC dining scene, and have had the privilege of serving countless guests who have passed through our doors,” says general manager Matt Brown. “There’s a lot to celebrate & we look forward to seeing a lot of familiar faces at Pilar over the course of the week.”

On Monday – for one night only – Chef Jesse Miller will feature Pilar’s Prime Rib dinner, including a slab of prime rib, creamed spinach, foie gras whipped potatoes and glace. Other popular past menu items will be offered in addition to the regular menu throughout the week, including the Malt Aioli Potatoes, Grilled Calamari with Tomato & Basil, Tuna Niçoise, and the Bacon Buddy. Bar Manager Ben Wiley is also planning a special drink menu for the week featuring classic Bar Pilar signatures, like The Dark Side, The Ruffled Shirt, and The Bees & the Beer, with a few guest bartenders making special appearances behind the bar on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday nights.

To cap off the celebration, Bar Pilar invites everyone to its 10th Anniversary Party on Sunday, March 22nd upstairs at the restaurant starting at 7pm. The evening will include complimentary light bites, DJs and signature cocktails from the past decade (cash bar – all cocktails $10).”

From Straw Stick & Brick Delicatessen (formerly three little pigs):

“Tomorrow [Today] will be our 3rd year anniversary! Three years is a big deal! It’s a big deal because ninety percent of food service businesses close their doors before reaching that benchmark – only one in ten make it! We couldn’t be more grateful and appreciative to each and every person that has helped us make it through. We certainly didn’t do it on our own strength alone! We hope that you know that we really are thankful for all you have offered us; from shopping with us, sharing our food with your friends and family, offering encouragement, suggestions, and advice.

We can’t tell you how many people have told us they didn’t think that our business could survive in these early development stages happening in our neighborhood. In almost all cases, their intentions were good – people definitely wanted to see us thrive, but many were unsure if the timing was right for a business like ours. We knew we had our work cut out for us, but loyal customers and steady press let us know we were on to something great.

If you haven’t been by the shop lately, come by and see us again. If you have been coming regularly you probably already know about our growing pantry, bigger and better lunch menu, workshops on everything from butchery to salumi, and the renovations on our second floor. This is our year to strengthen and improve our work to give you a better and better experience. We couldn’t be more excited to have you on this journey with us.

So… how about some fun? Friday through Sunday we will have some awesome stuff going on! We have 25% off all smoked sausages, workshop giveaways, and a ton of meat boards so you can sample some of our favorite cured meats! Stop by, say hello, and join us in celebrating this awesome milestone!”

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
