  • I seem to remember this being featured as a GDoN not too long ago. I guess they had trouble selling the unit.

  • maxwell smart

So let’s assume 3 people rent this as roommates – $1500 each + utilities. In this area, you could easily find a 1 bedroom for a similar price point and not have to deal with 2 other people.

    • You’re not the mid-career lawyer couple that they’re after.

      • Except I can see very few reasons why a mid-career lawyer couple would even rent this house. If you have that big of a salary, you are probably in the position to buy. If you are looking for a house to buy you are probably saving money and renting in the meantime.
Most (somewhat) rich people don’t like to throw away money just because they can. $4500 a month in rent is redic.

        • Not necessarily. Buying a place is throwing money away if you aren’t sure you will stay put for a few years. I know plenty of fancy lawyer couples who buy nice places, but also know a number who rent for just that reason.

        • What about those with kids and an uncertain timeline?

        • I know actual people who would consider this a perfect rental and forwarded it to them in hopes they might rent it. FWIW, there are married non-lawyers who both make excellent salaries and are trying to relocate to DC with their two small kids. They want a place they can stay for a year or two while looking for a permanent home here. This place offers excellent schools, close proximity to the metro and the zoo, good walkability and parking. Seems like a good fit.

    • Good luck finding a one bedroom two blocks from the metro for $1500, maybe a studio. It also looks like the attic could be a potential living space, so that could bring it to four people for a huge house with outdoor space and a ton of living space.

    • A 1 bedroom in Woodley Park for 1500 + uts? Link me so I can rent it.

  • Well that is true you could find your own apartment but that is one gorgeous house. Houses are a world unto themselves, roomies or not, you’re not going to find them built like this.

  • I remember renting a 3br very similar to this one with two roommates for $3,200 on this block back in 2006. Woodley place is a great street, can’t imagine what the neighbors thought when three college grads moved next door…

  • My group house in Woodley, on the other side of Connecticut is recently renovated, 5br, 2 full 2 half bath, and it’s going for $4450.

    • Private baths for all certainly warrants a premium. Also parking for 4 or 5 cars, garage+drwy. Also living with less people means you pay more but that’s the point, right?
