“The Metropolitan Police Department has announced that on Wednesday, February 25, 2015, an arrest was made in connection to two carjackings which occurred throughout the District of Columbia.

On Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at approximately 1:40 p.m. officers from the Second District received a call for two armed carjackings in progress. The first carjacking occurred in the 3100 block of P Street, NW. The second carjacking was in close proximity and occurred in the 2600 block of P, Street, NW. In both carjackings a suspect approached an operator of a vehicle, and demanded the keys while displaying a gun. The victim in the 3100 block of P Street, NW was able to drive off. The victim in the 2600 block of P Street, NW complied and the suspect drove away in the victim’s vehicle.

Members of the United States Park Police then observed the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The suspects fled at a high rate of speed. Park Police Officers continued to follow the suspect. The suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit the suspect was apprehended by members of the U.S. Park Police. After further investigation by MPDC detectives, 21 year-old Ronald E. Johnson, of Northwest, D.C was arrested and charged with two counts of Armed Carjacking and one count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon.”
