Twelve & K Hotel and District Grill Closed on K Street

1201 K Street, NW

“Dear PoPville,

I walked past the Twelve & K Hotel last night (formerly the Four Points by Sheraton) and saw they were closed. The main lobby entrance has a sign about who to call for deliveries, and another door has security company contact information. It’s a little bit strange to look inside the lobby and see nobody inside. District Grill is also shuttered, and the hotel website is gone too ( I know the property was sold over the summer to the company that also owns the Langham Hotel chain so perhaps something else is on the way?”

  • My guess is that a real hotelier would want to start fresh rather than take over such an ugly, soulless property.

  • Relatives of mine stayed here when it was Four Points–apparently a nice place. The restaurant was nothing special, though I wondered what happened when they dropped the franchise. It’s a slightly odd location–not that close to metro or other major “nodes”, so it definitely needs a connection to chain.

Soul-less???? Look at almost all the major chain hotels here.

  • the 12/K “brand” was only temporary to finish out existing operations and reservations after the hotel sold to Langham and removed its Four Points flag/branding. Now the hotel will be renovated and rebranded under the new owner.

And fun fact….the hotel’s restaurant space was the original location of Corduroy. Yes, one of DC’s finest restaurants once lived in a Sheraton Four Points. It was replaced by District Grill when Corduroy moved to its current home on 9th Street.
