Across the desert and through the mountain to the Canyon of the Crescent Moon, to the Temple where the cup that – where the cup that holds the blood of Jesus Christ resides forever.

  • Nice! That’s on my list of places to go. Can you give some details on how you got there? Tour? Independent trip?

    • Not the OP but I was in Jordan a few years ago. I was visiting a friend in Amman and took a bus to Petra (3-4 hrs), stayed in a nearby hotel (made reservations from Amman) and hired a guide for a few hours. The Jordanians were very friendly; while I spent time walking around by myself I also had some great conversations with other visitors and guides/guards/etc.

    • Try camping with the Bedouins in Wadi Rum, too, if you go.

    • OP here. We rented a car in Amman and drove there. It’s about 3 hours, straight shot, new-ish road with signs in English most of the way. Super easy! If you’d prefer not to drive, there are plenty of bus trips leaving from Amman, too. You can take a different road back and drive along the Dead Sea. Buy the two day pass when you get there. The cost difference is negligible. It’s about $65-70 and you can hike for hours on end!
