  • I lived in that building back in 2007-2009. My rent was $1000 for a studio. Loved the location, walked everywhere, and the rooftop is awesome. This is a good deal I think, compared to what I paid back then for a smaller space (granted, no idea what the market is looking nowadays with all the new buildings up on 14th Street and elsewhere… yes, this junior 1 bd is dated/no renovated, but probably perfectly functional).
Wonder is Sam the doorman still works there? What a nice guy!

    • I lived there in the same time frame and also in a studio. My rent was $1350-1400 during my two years, and I think that was actually closer to market then. Either way, this is a pretty decent deal, great location, though annoying restrictions on when you can move in/out or get cable installed. I’ll second the doorman comments – Sam was awesome, learned by name almost immediately and gave me a hug when moving out. Great guy!

      • Agree that the building restrictions can be frustrating– I lived there from 2011-2013, and loved the building and location, but the building management and condo board could sometimes be difficult to deal with. When I was moving out (after having scheduled everything according to the rules), one of the residents ran up to my movers and demanded to know if this was a ‘legal’ move. Kind of typical of the overall attitude, but I get it- condo owners want to have a nice building. Overall a great experience living there! This seems like a good deal to me.

    • Former resident here. Loved Sam! They fired him (allegedly for petty reasons), but luckily he found new work! He was doing all sorts of non-profit work on the side to improve the lives of those in his native country.

  • Good deal. I’d take this in a heartbeat if I wanted to live alone.

  • Agreed that the building, tthe doorman and location are nice. For Dupont, that is a decent deal. The only negatives are the lack of in-unit washer and dryer and that the building doesn’t allow pets.
