  • I had one of those, but the wide body version. It was a POS. The massive weight put too much strain on the moving parts, and I was constantly replacing rods and brake components.
    Replaced it with a volvo of the same vintage (though not diesel) and was MUCH happier!

  • There are many great examples of these old Benzes around, because they were almost all originally owned by doctors or well-to-do retirees who put very few miles on them and kept them garaged. They are true marvels of engineering. By the 1990s, their cars were a mere shadow of what these used to be, from an engineering standpoint.
