Bayou Bakery on the Hill applies for Liquor License by Eastern Market

921 Pennsylvania Avenue, SE

The liquor license placard says:

“New full service restaurant serving American cuisine. Occasional live entertainment consisting of a Band or DJ and Dancing. Summer Garden with seating for 40 patrons.”

Back in May we learned:

“Full of Southern character and casual appeal, Bayou Bakery, Coffee Bar & Eatery is a downhome, Southern eatery that will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner featuring seasonal choices. With savory comfort fare, signature desserts, and superior and sustainable coffees from around the world, its operating style and ambiance will fully complement the high-quality, family-friendly and vibrant offerings that the community values at Hill Center.”

Updates as they get closer to opening.

  • Could be amazing; that property is world class for that kind of restaurant.

  • I hope the food is better than at the Arlington location. I found it to be surprisingly bland (even the dishes that were advertised as the chef’s family recipes). Yet the staff and atmosphere were so nice that I still went all the time when I lived over there. I hope they retain the latter two and fix the former at the new location.

    • +1. As an ex-Louisianan, I was disappointed by a lot of the food at the location in Arlington. Their king cake was the driest I’ve ever had.
