When we learned about Due South, from the owner of Surfside, coming to Navy Yard there was another interesting detail buried at the end of the press release:

“In addition, 100 Montaditos will open in The Boilermaker Shops at The Yards in a few weeks”

Previously we had learned:

“100 Montaditos an exciting environment, tasting Spain’s famed Mahou beer or other typical thirst-quenchers, including red and white wines, claras (beer with lemon-lime soda) sangria (wine punch made with chopped fruit) and tintos de verano (red wine blended with lemon-lime soda).

The restaurant specializes in montaditos, crunchy Spanish rolls baked to order and jam-packed with traditional ingredients as Serrano ham, Spanish tortilla, chorizo sausage and Manchego cheese.

The number of seats is 74 and total load 74.”

I was starting to wonder if they were still coming – good to know the wait is almost over! You can see their menu here.

  • Finally…Very excited about this!

  • I’ve never tried 100 Mondaditos here, but I’ve had it in Spain and it was… kind of gross (I generally love Spanish food). Will definitely try this and hope it changes my mind, though.

    • How was it gross? It’s just inexpensive sandwiches with a variety of fillings. I just tried it in Miami, and while not haute cuisine, all the sandwiches were pretty fresh and tasty, especially considering they run $1-3 a piece.

    • They sound like fancy hot pockets to me. “Hooooooooooot pockettttttttttttts!”

  • I was surprised it took DC this long search on google the other day thinking there was one here.
