The best part was walking by on Friday afternoon with the dog and seeing a couple of employees in the window painstakingly peeling off each individual letter…

    • I did the same thing, and felt slightly bad as I took a picture of the employees in the act, to send to the Muriel-fans amongst my friends.

  • What’s the back story here? Gotta be a juicy one! What did Catania do??

  • I believe this is the place where former mayor Adrian Fenty shopped regularly, so I wonder if there was any connection concerning the Bowser ads.

  • It would be interesting to know if a lot UG’s customers complained via Twitter, email, Facebook or in-person. It wouldn’t surprise me at all.
UG owners should have known better; why court controversy among your high engaged, vocal, and upper-income clientele? Stupid idea, even if it was just a ploy to get into Bowser’s pocket for property development purposes. There’s more discreet ways of doing that.

    • I didn’t put two and two together that this was the spot you recommended I snag a pair of polarized sunglasses.

I really can’t stand Bowser, so I may wait until after she is elected to shop at UG.

  • It has become obvious to Universal Gear that Muriel Bowser is bad for business. Otherwise, the signs would still be in place.

  • Original idea was just a bad business decision…

  • Only an idiot in business would side with one particular politician in a small city. but hey; it’s UQ, clothes about two steps above walmart, but put a label on something and gay men will run over each other to walk down the street with there name on a clothing bag, as if it were something from Saks 5th Ave or Rodeo Dry
