This Week’s Metro Track Work and Road Closures for the Marine Corps Marathon

From WMATA:

“This weekend, Orange, Silver, Blue, Yellow and Green line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals, except at three stations: Greenbelt, Landover and New Carollton. Red Line trains will operate every 24 minutes with additional trains providing service about every 12 minutes between Medical Center and NoMa-Gallaudet from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Early Opening Sunday for Marine Corps Marathon
Metrorail will open two hours early, at 5 a.m., on Sunday, October 26, for customers traveling to the Marine Corps Marathon. The closest Metro stop to the start of the race is Pentagon on the Blue and Yellow lines. Riders may want to consider using Pentagon City as an alternate station due to potential crowding at Pentagon.

Red Line trains will operate as follows throughout the weekend (10PM Fri – Closing Sun):

Between Shady Grove & Glenmont: every 24 minutes
Between Medical Center & NoMa-Gallaudet: every 12 minutes Saturday and Sunday from 9AM-9PM only

Work Performed: Track, rail tie, insulator renewal & joint elimination between Medical Center & Grosvenor and Takoma & Forest Glen.

Orange Line
Regular weekend service EXCEPT on Saturday at Landover & New Carrollton only

On Saturday, Orange Line trains will operate:

Between Cheverly and Vienna at regular Saturday intervals (every 12 minutes 9AM-9PM)
At Landover and New Carrollton only, trains will arrive and depart every 20-25 minutes between 9AM-9PM

On Sunday, Orange Line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals.

Blue Line
Regular weekend service; extra trains on Sunday

Green Line
Regular weekend service EXCEPT at Greenbelt Station on Saturday and Sunday (Buses replace trains at Greenbelt only)

On Saturday and Sunday, free shuttle buses will replace Green Line trains between Greenbelt and College Park. Riders using shuttle bus service should allow 15 minutes additional travel time.

Green Line trains will operate at normal weekend intervals between College Park and Branch Ave.

“The Metropolitan Police Department and US Park Police wish to advise the public and members of the media of the following street closings in conjunction with the Marine Corps Marathon. These events are scheduled for Sunday, October 26, 2014.

This event is scheduled for Sunday, October 26, 2014. The race begins at 8:00 am in Arlington, Virginia, and then crosses the Potomac River into the District of Columbia. The following streets along the race route will be closed beginning at 4:00 am and are expected to re-open by 1:00 pm
