  • This house truly is a window into the past. Before the streetcar line up 14th St was electrified in 1892, this is what Mt. Pleasant (/Columbia Heights) looked like: detached brick and wood frame houses on large lots. Because the improved streetcar could move more people suburban neighborhoods like this filled up with brick rowhouses and apartments until they we’re filled out in the 1920s. These old houses still dot the streetscape north of Park Road on either side of 16th.

  • Nice house, but its maintenance seems to have been frozen in time too. Looks like the gingerbread trim isn’t just dirty/in need of being painted, but warping or peeling too.
