Comments to the original Good Deal or Not (GDoN) post included much speculation as to whether a change in school boundaries could affect home prices in the Crestwood neighborhood. Since most of the clients I have personally worked with in Crestwood, as well as friends who live in the neighborhood have either a) not had school age kids, or b) have kids in private school, I think it’s unlikely that a change in school boundaries would have much of an effect on prices. In any case, the current school locator continues to show this property within boundary for Wilson High School. You can see the August 2014 final recommendations on the boundary issues here.

The subject property was purchased in February 2014 for $620,000. Unfortunately, there is only an exterior Before pic.

You can see current active listings, pendings, and solds since March 2014 in the Crestwood neighborhood here.

The listing agent was Janette Harvey of Central Properties, LLC. Rob Williams of DC Home Buzz represented the buyer in this transaction.

  • A rather drab house that would benefit immensely from some landscaping! But from Google’s satellite view, it looks like it has a good-sized back yard.

  • That’s $600 a sq ft. For a 1960s split-level!

  • That photo is the before pic, so I hope it’s gotten a lot of updating for 50% increase in 8 months.

  • visited this property while it was on the market. thought it had nice been nicely renovated inside, but not enough to justify the price (unless you just love the location, which we were just meh about). the backyard was large, but it was downsloping and had large metal drainage pipes sticking up and out, and had a large 20-30 foot drop (concrete wall) to the road below.
