  • How depressing. . .

  • I find this wildly overpriced. That block is a decent walk from the metro and other amenities, and the inside is very dated (especially that hideous brown bathtub!). The window units are also a turn-off. I would price this at $2450.

    • ?? 10 minute walk to Van Ness metro station, 13 minute walk to Politics & Prose, 14 minute walk to Tenleytown Whole Foods, all per Google Maps. O.k., so not close to bars and nightlife, but for the basics of life this seems just as convenient as my Logan Circle place.

$1450 per person (assuming 2 roommates) with some off-street parking seems pretty reasonable to me. Not everyone wants to live on U Street, FYI.

You know what’s awesome about window units and roommates? everyone gets to sleep at the temperature they like. I love window units.

  • Overpriced, I think. You can get a nicer place this size in Adams Morgan, for one, for that price–why on earth would you pay it for a shabby old place in Van Ness?

  • The kitchen layout looks really awkward (the dishwasher opens on one side of the counter and the sink faces the other?) and cramped, and the bathroom is so outdated it makes the one in my Adams Morgan rental unit look cutting-edge by comparison, but other than that and the window units, the place seems all right. (It would probably have helped if they had opened the blinds when taking photos.)
Alton Place is a quiet street. I don’t know what a two-bedroom in this area usually goes for, but it seems like this might suit a couple with a kid who want West of the Park schools and who don’t want to fight for street parking along Connecticut Avenue. Or maybe roommates who want a WotP location, especially if one of them has a car.
