“Saturday between 2-5am 25 vehicles on the 1400 block of Buchanan St NW had their tires slashed”

“Dear PoPville,

Saturday between 2-5am 25 vehicles on the 1400 block of Buchanan St NW had their tires slashed. Mine included. Fortunately my car was just detailed so they got a nice juicy handprint from it. Whomever is convicted will likely get a felony. Besides costing a few hundred a tire this had literally wasted 25 different vehicle owners weekends trying to manage this. I’ve been on this block for 10 years and never experienced these kinds of incidents.”

They definitely deserve to get a felony. There is just no place in a civilized society for someone who would do something like this. They easily could have done $20,000 in damage. What a piece of human garbage.

  • To quote Stephanie Tanner: How rude!

  • The perp is lucky they weren’t a couple of blocks over or they would’ve been on several surveillance cameras. I can’t wait to get the HD ones up and running…

  • saw what you want about the mafia, but random sh*t like this doesn’t happen in the north end of boston.

    • Not sure what that has to do with anything. Not that anybody was talking about the mafia, you’re comparing a handful of blocks, in a smaller city with a relatively lower crime rate, to an isolated incident.

He is saying that if someone did this in the north end of boston, they would wind up at the bottom of a river.

      • lighten up dude… Accountering gets my point. you don’t mess with someone’s property who you don’t know, and if someone does, there’s generally a consequence to be paid for it.

  • Bad Luck Club sticker in the picture really puts this into perspective.

  • Note the rather apt sticker on the back of the parking sign. I would be furious 🙁

  • Can they prove that the handprint belongs to the vandal?

    • Nope, and good luck with them taking the print and doing anything about it

      • DUDE: When will you find these guys? I mean, do you have any promising leads?
        The policeman laughs, agreeing broadly.
POLICEMAN: Leads, yeah. I’ll just check with the boys down at the Crime Lab. They’ve assigned four more detectives to the case, got us working in shifts.

  • Possible backlash for “Nightmare on Buchanan Street”?

    • Thanks for connecting the two. I live on this block and tires were affected. The tension between the developer and the block has become palatable. Please watch this space!

      • unless parking rules are changed to deal with increasing density, things like tire slashings are going to continue to become more common. Pop-up developments don’t always come with parking, and each building can easily add 3-4 cars to a block. People are just going to get crazy and do dumb things like this if they don’t like the way someone else parked…. My advice would be to increase the fee for a parking permit to something more reasonable so people don’t have cars unless they really need them. The fee is $15 or so per year right now…. which is basically free. $500 would probably be much more in line with market value, and would result in less cars in the district.

      • I’m assuming you mean palpable, not palatable.
What’s the “Nightmare on Buchanan Street”?

  • This extended down to Emerson as well. Surveillance footage shows 4 AA teenagers. 3 doing the slashing and filming with their phones, with 1 acting as lookout. Faces were not identifiable, so MPD was not interested in actually looking at the footage.
