Phillips Collection is free until Sept. 27th

1600 21st Street, NW

Thanks to a reader for sending:

“I am a member of Phillips Collection but yesterday when I went for a quick afternoon glimpse of the excellent “Luncheon of the Boating Party” I was alerted to the fact that the gallery is free right now for everyone. This is because they are in the process of exchanging out the 3rd floor exhibit. I think entrance is usually $15ish so this is a nice perk. Thought you might like to share it out with readers!”

Ed. Note: Phillips says they’ll be free until the next exhibit (except for weekends) on Sept. 27th

  • Weren’t they always free? I’ve never paid before for the regular exhibit.

    • Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for students and seniors with ID
They didn’t offer me the free admission when I went on Sunday (the 3rd floor was closed for the exhibit swap)
However, the staff at the on-site Tryst did offer me & my friend a free baked good from the display case 😀

  • Just be aware that it’s not a particularly kid friendly environment. Especially if your kid likes to throw themselves towards priceless paintings they particularly like and TRY AND TOUCH THEM argh.

    • Yeah, young kids should be on a leash at the Phillips. The rooms are small and you can get up close to all the pieces.
The room monitors are also hawk-eyed and will ruthlessly scold you with a quickness. They take sadistic pleasure in administering embarrassingly loud warnings. 😡
