  • I don’t get enough of a thrill from free stuff to justify the lines that inevitably form… But is the pizza any good? Should I try it out on a non-free day?

    • I haven’t been to the Dupont location, but the pizza at the Shaw/Howard University location is delicious.

    • yeah! it’s delicious. taste-wise it’s better than &pizza in my humble opinion.

      • I’ve had this location’s pizza and have had &pizza and hands down &pizza is better.

        • to each their own i guess! i’ve found that &pizza has a very distinct taste no matter what toppings you get – similar to how subway sandwiches are identifiable by taste as subway, no matter how it’s customized. having said that, i do think &pizza is really yummy and i go all the time. but custom fuel tastes more like real pizza IMO.

I always really liked their pizza back in Charlotte, where they started. That was 10+ years ago though, so not sure how it’s changed, or how the DC locations compare.

  • North Carolina bbq –yes; North Carolina pizza, you’ve got to be kidding.

Good point. It’s very true that anyone who lives outside of [whatever your favorite pizza region is] would be unable to figure out something so complex as how to make a good pizza.

  • I had pizza at this location and was not impressed, the service is a little too fast and hurry up and get the ’em through style. Before you’re actually ready to go (if you order and eat in) the waitress/pizza cook whizzes by and cleans off the table for you -can you say ‘hurry up and get out’?? Then there’s the whole Gasoline station décor and the serving of food atmosphere just not too appetizing to me. At this Dupont Circle location last but not least worth mentioning is the crammed in tables too close to others and crowded.

    • I thought the gas station decor was a bit odd as well. I go to the Penn Ave location for lunch sometimes when I need a pizza fix. It’s ok, not amazing, but not bad either. I like the variety of toppings.

  • I”ll be in line before noon tomorrow. Definitely looking forward to trying their pizza. BTW, I’m not at all a fan of &pizza — & have no idea why it’s so popular. Hoping Custom is better. We’ll see tomorrow.
