It’s worth taking a look at the comments to the original Good Deal or Not (GDoN) post. For those readers who are perhaps new to the District, note that “EOTR” refers to the property being “East of the River”, specifically on the east side of the Anacostia River, which includes DC Wards 7 and 8.

Even folks who know what “EOTR” means still may not really have a good idea exactly where to find the Hillcrest neighborhood. One might start on Pennsylvania Avenue in Capitol Hill, say around Eastern Market, and head eastward. Just before you head into the PG County suburbs, turn south.

Hillcrest is the community that current DC Mayor Vincent Gray calls home. The neighborhood is known for a range of styles of detached single family houses, from bungalows to colonials to porch front farm houses to four squares. You can see the list of settled sales of detached homes since the beginning of the year here. Sold prices ranged from $125,000. to $599,000. Current active listings range from $119,000 to $649,000.

The listing agent was Leon Williams of Long and Foster Real Estate, Inc. Alex Schindlbeck of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage represented the buyer in this transaction.

  • Good for them. I’d love to see what they do to it once they move in. Looks like such a peaceful place.

    • Agreed. I think this is an incredible deal for someone with the right circumstances (no kids, or are planning to send them to private schools from the very beginning).

  • reading the original post saddens me how ignorant people are of EOTR.
if you know hillcrest at all, you know it’s mostly very nice.

  • Beautiful house! Just wanted to point out that Hillcrest is not the only nice and safe neighborhood EOTR. There are a few more.
