From a press release:

Union Market, home to over 40 local artisan, food and beverages vendors, will host its movie drive in summer series finale this Friday, August 8, 2014 at 8:30 p.m. This classic American treat will take place in Union Market’s parking lot and will project the feature presentation, Casino Royale, onto the market’s three-story wall. The family-friendly series is $10 per car or free for walk-ups in the picnic area.

Movie lovers and retro fanatics alike can munch on theater worthy delectables from Timber Pizza Co and sip on Suburbia DC favorites such as fizzy pop sodas and summer cocktails. Patrons can stretch their legs and enjoy the summer air in a variety of pre-show activities, including games of cornhole at Suburbia. The DC Rollergirls will be on hand delivering snacks and drinks on wheels.

The popular UM Drive In Summer Series has brought in immense crowds since it’s inception in 2012. The throwback event offers a summer retreat for those looking for communal fun and vintage kitsch.

  • I have to laugh at calling Casino Royale family friendly if they’re talking about the most recent version. Torture scenes, cutting off limbs with machetes, shootings, stabbings, dead bodies everywhere. I don’t think it’s inappropriate for the time and venue but I don’t think they should specifically invite families (which in my mind means appropriate for all ages). On the other hand, I guess parents should look up a movie before they see it and decide for themselves if their kid should see it.
