  • The house is at least interesting, though a little too medieval dungeony for my tastes. However, you’d think you could get some decent pictures for an almost $2million listing. Those pictures are horrible! What’s with the random black and white ones and weird closeup shots of nothing?

  • 5200 sq. ft. and the whole thing is decorated like a dark cave. No thanks!

    I’ve certainly never not been able to understand what the hell someone is saying in a listing quite like this before, so they’re partially correct.

  • UGLY. The elevator is cool, though I bet it’s expensive to maintain. That said, even if it does need a bunch of redecorating, that much space in a location that good means that this will probably get close to list price.

  • How funny, I loved it especially the outdoor space. Cool to have a elevator too. Lots of parking. I thought the kitchen was a refreshing change from the usual cookie cutter kitchens . I think the negative reactions are related to the price, right? I think the price per square foot and amenities are in line with other properties recently sold/on the market. And that is a good neighborhood. I wonder how many units the foot print is zoned for? I declare this place a good deal.

  • Reminds me a lot of the “fancy” Polish and German restaurants in Detroit and Milwaukee. All they need is a suit of armor decoration.

      Definitely. There’s a Lithuanian restaurant just outside of Chicago called Grand Duke’s that looks just like this on the inside. Which reminds me that I’d kill for a good Lithuanian restaurant in the DC area.

  • Deal. multiple parking spots, outdoor space, and under $400/sqft two blocks to Woodley metro.

  • for the square footage and the location i’d say it is a bad deal. it really just needs a kitchen and bathroom redo and then a good interior designer.

  • I’ve seen this house for sale before. If you can believe, it was actually worse a couple of years ago.

    7 parking spaces and two blocks from the metro is pretty sweet.

  • I so wish that there were a couple of giant turkey legs in the bowl on the dining room table. They would be so much more appropriate than 10 day old fruit.

  • I drive past this house everyday on my drive home, I always wondered what these house went for on Cathedral, I am in love with that street but yikes! terrible decorating

  • The black-and-white photography (and occasional sepia toned images) don’t make it any more desirable. Only the Flintstones would be interested in that lava-rock-cave kitchen!

  • This is one of those old overly taste-specific renos that we are warned about. Wonder if is one of those cases that the long-time owner died or went into a senior facility situation.

    That seems a bit high considering the kitchen (at least) will have to be demolished. But that is a good neighborhood and a sizable place so it isn’t ever going to be cheap.

  • The photos should add to the sale. These photos look like they distract by getting to artsy. I want to SEE the space, which is hard to so in the black and white and sepia photos.
