Mens softball league in DC (or DC area):

“About 12 friends of mine are looking to play in a men’s-only softball league in DC this summer. Does anyone know of one? We’re not looking for anything overly competitive, but want basically a Zog or USS-like game if possible. Anyone know of a league taking teams?”

graffiti on yield to pedestrian sign (and others):

“I reported the graffiti on a number of street signs at Connecticut & 20th NW (just north of Dupont Circle) on May 8 (to 311) and on May 22 (to Jim Graham) and haven’t gotten any response.

This is a safety issue – with the “yield to pedestrian” text covered, it is much more likely that a pedestrian gets hit crossing 20th St. This is the intersection: https:[email protected],-77.044935,3a,75y,171.97h,76.48t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1s9IoSYSKPMkiA_V6_z5_hhQ!2e0

Does anyone know how to get this issue resolved?”

  • I live in DC, but because of old co workers that started a team over a decade ago, I play in Arlington. The “D” League is for the beginners and teams range from 20 year olds to 60 year olds. Its not a league where you goof off and just go and drink beer, but the D League isn’t overly competitive. Sometimes you have to heckle someone complaining about a call with “Its only D League softball!” Im sure DC has similar leagues, but this is just the one I know about…

First step is to understand that contacting Graham’s office is pointless.

  • Since he lost the primary, Graham has been totally unresponsive. Try going to David Grosso — very responsive, in my experience.

  • Graffiti in general seems to be exploding — I live on Park Rd NW and it’s disappointing to see all the care taken in renovating the row of stores in the 1400 block being undone by a swirl of graffiti. The side of Pho 14 is especially bad and the owners are letting it get out of hand.
