Anyone Recognize these Persons of Interest in Connection with a Burglary on the 1400 Block of Swann St, NW?

“Dear PoPville,

I read the comments to your original post, and one member suggested we look to see if Whitelaw Market has any surveillance footage of the burglars using my credit card. Sure enough, MPD went there and spoke with the owners who were able to provide a video showing our burglars.

I’m wondering if you wouldn’t mind posting the surveillance video, in the hope that some member of the community may be able to match a name to a face, or at least provide more information.”

Anyone who can identify these individuals or who has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police at 202-727-9099 or text 50411

  • It’s really hard to tell from that video. They look like two of my neighbors (I have a neighbor with dreads who is about that height and one that wears a hat that looks like that), but there’s no way to really know that for sure given that I can’t really tell what their faces look like int he video. I’ll keep an eye out for the one with dreads wearing that shirt or that red bag.

    • They hang out, btw. I’m not just grouping them together willy-nilly.

      • Try looking at the shoes in the video. People change their shoes infrequently, and the shoe/hair/hat/height combo, if still on target, is less likely to be a false ID than just the height/hair/hat combo.

Try to always remember the shoes of anyone that you witness committing a crime. It will help the police ID the individual when you call 911 too.

    • You don’t have to wait for confirmation by seeing the guy wearing the shirt/bag — call the police and say, “Look, I’m not sure because the quality of the video isn’t so great, but I THINK that might be my neighbors who live at _________.” Let them follow up.

  • Please tell me the guy with dreads is wearing a Mickey Mouse shirt. Please.

  • Someone please edit in some really bad hip-hop to this video.

  • The people at IMAX should have a line of security cameras.

  • they looked like game boy characters. that video quality is a joke. the store should really invest in a better camera. I mean my cell can do better… not to mention that everyone that height with dreads kinda looks the same in a video like that… but still as someone else mentioned if you think it’s him – let the police sort it out. it probably is…

    • Your cell can store 50+ hours a week, every single week of the year, of high quality video? I don’t think so.

      • Not to be a jerk, but many retail establishments only store the last 7-10 days of video. I was on the jury of a murder trial where MPD found this out the hard way. They took over 30 days to think to canvass stores near the scene of the crime for video, and any potentially helpful images were already gone by then.

      • Reread my comment. I said invest in a better camera. The camera on my cell is MUCH better than this. Storage is another issue, but the issue at hand is video quality. And looks like per Pat – they’re only storing a week anyway, so yea, maybe it can…

  • This video is racist.

  • Thank you for posting this video. We’ll be contacting the detective shortly and will have one of the suspects stopped today if we see them.

  • I love the Whitelaw Market (waving at the camera)

  • What happened to asking for ID when using a credit card?
