Your Afternoon Animal Fix

If you have any animal/pet photos you’d like to share please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood. Your photos will go into the queue (usually 3-4 weeks wait) and will be posted in the order I receive them. If you’ve already entered your pet and would like to do so again – that’s no problem – just space the entries out a bit. Please try to send horizontal photos 640×480 (medium size on your iphone) if possible.

Lake Anna Pawly

“This is Pawly of Columbia Heights getting excited to swim at Lake Anna last year. He’s looking forward to our annual trip happening next month. Watch out Michael Phelps!”

“This is Oscar of mt pleasant”

“My fiance and I are fostering Andy. He was part of a pack of hunting dogs until K-9 Lifesavers rescued him. He likely never lived a day indoors until he came to us. As much as we would love to adopt him, we have another dog and live in an apartment, so fostering him is our only option right now. He has the sweetest disposition, gets along with all humans and other dogs, and hasn’t barked once since we have had him!

Here is some more info on how to adopt Andy!”

  • Hey Pawly, do they give you a hard time about being off-leash at Lake Anna? I’ve thought about taking my dogs there, but wondered if the trip would be worth it….last thing I need is a ranger coming along insisting on leashedness and making swimming impossible.

    • We were at a rental house not a public beach. Our neighbors had like 3 dogs off leash swimming and they were nice enough to share their space with us. No problems with him off leash in our yard/lake area.

  • Oscar is a gorgeous kitteh! Very poised!

    Love Oscar’s crossed paws!

  • Could you please clarify the circumstances of Andy’s rescue? Your post makes it sound like all hunting dogs are abused – which is not the case. I’m really grateful for everyone involved in rescuing dogs from bad lives. But “hunting dogs” does not automatically equal “abused dogs.”

    • Victoria- you are right all hunting dogs are not abused; and I am not sure if Andy was. There is no indication here that every hunting dog is abused. Just that Andy in particular never lived indoors- in a home he deserves! 🙂

  • Fingers crossed for Andy.
