Admiring the Logos of Derek Brown’s Three New Bars in Shaw on 7th

1800 block of 7th Street, NW just north of Shaw metro

I gotta give credit where credit is due – the logos for Derek Brown’s new(ish) 7th Street spots are absolutely awesome:

Well we might as well judge ’em too – any fans of Eat of the Rich, Mockingbird Hill and/or Southern Efficiency?

Mockingbird Hill and Southern Efficiency after the jump.

  • They’re all three incredible. Great food, drinks, atmosphere.

  • I can’t help but think that all these pork-themed restaurants are going to be short lived, once the next health craze comes to DC, after all these millennials wake up one day and realize they can’t fit into their favorite skinny jeans anymore 🙂

  • It would be nice to know who designed them.

  • Mockingbird Lane and Eat the Rich are great! Haven’t tried Southern Efficiency yet. I like eat the rich for dinner, but love the sherry & snacks next door as more of a drink/snack thingy (I feel like you would go broke eating a full meal there).

  • Been to Mockingbird Hill. Loved it.

I really like all 3, but Mockingbird Hill is my favorite of the trio, primarily due to its uniqueness in the District (and really most cities). Nowhere else in this area does something like this exist, and they not only embrace it they excel at it (sherry expertise). Chantal Tseng is an encyclopedia of knowledge on the subject and we’re lucky to have her talents on display like this.

    • The couple of times I’ve been there she’s been really informative, and not at all condescending in sharing her knowledge and love of sherries with people who don’t know much about them. Snobby and elitist bartenders all over the city could take a cue from her.

  • I loved Southern Efficiency! great drinks!

  • I just love the name “Southern efficiency”. One of my favorite DC-themed quotes. (Although I don’t think it’s very true!!)
