New Tavern with Ping Pong Tables Coming to Georgia Ave

3118 Georgia Ave, NW

A new tavern is coming to the former Ma Ma’s Southern Cuisine space which closed back in October (formerly Hadiyah Cafe before that.) A recent liquor license placard has been posted that says:

“This is a new “C” Tavern with a Summer Garden. The establishment will serve coffee, small dishes and alcoholic beverages, while offering ping pong tables for use by patrons. Establishment will offer entertainment from DJs and musicians.”

  • good i can finally have a place to go to eat right near my garden. But its right next to the clinic….that place is seriously depressing. Been there a few times, left very sad.

  • welcome! One non-hop-ass draft beer (pilsner, if you’re asking) and a good jukebox please.

Hopefully they do a better job maintaining the tables than Comet does. They’ve always been a wreck the few times I’ve been, with several broken tables that only make the lines longer for the few that are worth playing on.

  • Would love to see someone bring in a few dart boards too.

  • I’m sorry I never made it to Ma Ma’s. I tried a couple of time, but they were closed. I guess I gave up. It’s too bad, because this little area is starting to develop some momentum, and they could have hung on they might have benefited from it. There’s two liquor license apps on this block, plus Bravo and the place next to it, and Kokeb across the street. And I noticed Larry’s Lemon Bowl is for sale, too. Meanwhile, there’s a ton of housing under development or coming on line within a few blocks on Georgia.

Anyway, best of luck to the new folks. I’ll definitely come check it out. Please don’t make it all hard surfaces. Bars and restaurants in DC are too damned loud.

  • can’t wait. sounds like it will be a great addition to the neighborhood!
