  • When my girlfriend and I used to commute in from Virginia we’d see this house right after coming off the 6th Street exit, and she’d always say “that’s my dream house!” We ended up buying a few blocks away, but the dream house was not on the market and probably would have been well out of our price range if it were.

Swoon for a front porch like that.

I love it when I recognize the houses on these posts. I’m inevitably stopped at the light at the corner, so I’ve spent plenty of time admiring that one 🙂

    • You’re not the only one! Has anyone seen evidence that anyone lives in there? I’ve been stuck at that light on many occasions over the years, at all different times of day, and never see a light on or any sign of human activity.

  • I don’t know who lives there now but that’s the Carbery House which was owned by Thomas Carbery who was the mayor of Wash DC in 1822. Part of his estate consisted of what is now Takoma and upper Georgia Avenue.
