Man Shot and Killed in NoMa early Sunday Morning

“The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred in the 400 block of Florida Avenue, NE.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call (202) 727-9099.”

NBC Washington reports:

“A man shot in the back in northeast D.C. Sunday morning has died.”

Update from MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide which occurred in the 400 block of Florida Avenue, Northeast.

On Sunday, February 23, 2014, at approximately 3:30 am, members of the First District responded to the area of the 5th and K Streets, Northeast for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival on the scene, members located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. He was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner pending an autopsy.

The investigation has revealed that the shooting occurred in the Fifth District, in the 400 block of Florida Avenue, Northeast.

The decedent has been identified as 36-year-old Daniel Calvin Short of Southeast, Washington, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.”
