  • This is very Takoma Park for Brookland. I love it!

  • I love how the paint job on those shingles is exactly symmetrical.

  • Thanks, I painted the shingles myself!!!
There are 2 other gables with the “confetti shingles” — also very symmetrical! The colors all come from the flowers in the garden (save the blue from the sky). The house dates from 1896 and was built by Jessie Holton of the Holton Arms girls school still in existence today in MD. Mrs. Holton came to Brookeland in 1891 and bought and developed properties for a profit to start her school in the year 1900. This house was one of those original 5 properties.
P.S. I always thought that Takoma was the Brookland in MD… .
