Ed. Note: Thanks to Michelle for putting together this list of adoptable pets. It will be featured the last Friday every month. If you are interested in submitting an adoptable pet you can email Michelle at Help.the.Pups.DC(at)gmail(dot)com

Daisy – Rural Dog Rescue

Daisy is an 8-month old lab mix from Rural Dog Rescue.  This young, sweet pup still has a lot of puppy energy and would love to find a people of her own that she can play with and love.  As for her animal buddies, she prefers other medium sized and larger canine friends and does best without cats around.  You can apply to adopt Daisy, or any of our animals, by sending the adoption application here.  To foster, please send the foster application here.  Our next adoption event is this Saturday at Howl to the Chief from noon until 3pm.

Hero – Tails High, Inc.

Hero is a handsome, medium-haired cat from Tails High, Inc.  Hero is less than 1 year old and, notwithstanding his having been abandoned at a petstore, he was born to snuggle.  He loves people, to be around people, and participate in whatever his people are doing.  Trying to do laundry – he’d love to help!  He is a very playful kitty with some special needs and would do best with older children.  If you would like to adopt Hero, please complete our adoption application on our website.  You can also visit us at one of our upcoming events!

More pets after the jump.

Buttercup – City Dogs Rescue

Buttercup is a 1-year old lab mix from City Dogs Rescue and AWOL Animal Rescue  This pretty girl is curious, sweet, and gets along well with other pups.  If you think this gorgeous girl might be a good fit for your home, please send an email expressing your interest here.

Thursday – Homeward Trails Animal Rescue
Thursday is a 6-month old kitten from Homeward Trails Animal Rescue.  Thursday is an adorable kitten that is a total lovebug and lapcat.  Though she would prefer to be your only feline friend, she gets along with adults, dogs, and loves children – she can’t stop purring!  If you think Thursday would be a good fit for your home, please fill out our cat adoption questionnaire available here.  You can also meet some of our adoptable animals at one of our events!

  • Don’t pass up Borris, on the DC Humane Society’s New York Avenue Cats page. He really is super-friendly and would make a great pet.
