The House Goes Stealth on Georgia Ave

3530 Georgia Ave, NW

“Dear PoPville,

Yesterday morning I walked past The House, the strip club by EL Haynes on Georgia Ave, and some workers there told me they’re removing the famous sign (happy hour every day- GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS) from the roof. I’m surprisingly sad to see it go- I’ve always given it as a landmark to friends walking to my house. The men I spoke to didn’t know if the sign would be upgraded/replaced.”

Thanks to DCRA for sending word that a permit has been issued for “Replacement of existing stone facade, clay tile roof and panels on sign board.”

  • Sounds like they might be going a bit more upscale, to reflect the changes in neighborhood demographics.

  • My favorite date spot.

  • The inside has been remodeled since the last time I went inside, it’s actually nice inside, leather couches, good lighting. Feels like a rap video, one that actually has budget. That’s what my friend said anyway…

    • Seems nice. Last time I was in there they had a make shift plywood stage with a couple bed sheets over top. Also – one of the patrons was having her birthday and got up between sets to strip completely naked and dance. Oh random weekdays at the House

  • Every time I go past there I imagine my lillywhite 5’6″ self walking in there and the music stopping with the needle scratching record sound as everyone turns their head to look at me. Just like in the movies!
