Crossroads Trading Coming to 14th and U Street, NW

Former Mila Discount store at 2015 14th Street, NW

A reader sends word that a Crossroad Trading Co. is coming to a space around 14th and U St, NW. An email to Crossroads confirms that they are coming to 2015 14th Street, NW “later this Fall.”

This is the former Mila Discount space on 14th just north of U Street. Crossroads Trading website says:

Crossroads is a new and recycled fashion retailer that has been serving its fashionable and environmentally conscious customers since 1991.

We are headquartered in Berkeley, California, and our first store opened in San Francisco on Fillmore Street. Today we have 29 retail locations that span the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle, Chicago and New York. And we’re always looking for new, fashion-savvy locations.

Buy – Sell – Trade – Consignment

We provide opportunities for our customers to:

Buy name-brand and designer clothing at a greatly discounted price
Sell gently used clothing for cash or trade
Consign high-end designer items for cash
Keep clothing out of landfill

We specialize in high-quality, name-brand clothing at exceptionally reasonable prices. Think Marc Jacobs, Coach and Banana Republic for a fraction of their original retail prices.

Because we buy most of our merchandise directly from our customers, each store directly reflects the neighborhood it’s in. This makes every store unique to its market.

We are recognized for the high quality of recycled merchandise we sell and have won over 80 “Best-Of” awards.

Updates as they get closer to opening.

  • love Crossroads- they always have great deals and I find them WAY more organized than Buffalo Exchange.

  • Well, I’m doing a happy dance. When I lived in San Francisco, it was one of my favorite places to shop. Don’t have strong feelings on it vs. Buffalo Exchange, but so happy to have both within reach of each other (and me).

  • Sounds like a plus

  • I’m glad it’s not turning into a restaurant. Good to keep at least some retail diversity in that area.

  • I thought this was going to be a 7-11?

    This is a relief.

  • I’m so relieved to hear this space will not become a convenience store as originally thought when Mila’s first closed (noted in the linked-to article in the post). I live nearby and was very worried that a convenience store would contribute to the loitering already going on outside of the liquor store there, making this part of 14th even worse than the corner of 12th and U where the 7-11 is. Very glad to have more retail in the neighborhood!

  • Crossroads is superior to Buffalo Xchange or whatever….they sell higher end labels and sell more new clothing as well. Solid pick up for the neighborhood.

  • Wasn’t everyone excited about the Buffalo Exchange that went in at 14th ST b/c they had good experiences with locations in other cities? Now, people are disappointed that the 14th one is not as good as those other locations. Why would we expect any different for the DC location of Crossroads?

  • SO HAPPY this will not be a 7-11!!

  • All I can think is, oh boy, one more place to pick up bedbugs. Or do they have a system for that?
