Fuel Pizza Moving into Former Upper Crust Pizza Space on Pennsylvania Ave

1747 Pennsylvania Ave, NW

Back in Nov. 2012 Upper Crust Pizzeria closed at 1747 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. A Fuel Pizza will be taking over the space and they’ve recently applied for a liquor license:

“A fast, casual establishment serving pizza, wings and salads. Occupancy load is 49. Sidewalk Café with 18 seats.”

Hours will be Sunday through Thursday 11 am – 2 am: Friday and Saturday 11 am – 3 am.

Fuel has two other DC locations at 1606 K Street NW and 600 F St NW. They are also expected to open up one at 2301 Georgia Ave, NW.

  • What is happening with the one slated for Georgia Ave? Have been looking forward to it for a bit too long now.

  • I still miss Upper Crust! That pizza was delicious.

  • North Carolina Pizza–just what DC needs. This may be why places in Philly and Baltimore don’t bother coming here.

Fuel Pizza is just OK. I do like the wings though and they have a decent beer selection.

I’ve been to the one on K St at lunchtime and it’s not really that busy. Opening another one so close seems kind of redundant especially since the K St location is never that packed. Maybe they figure this new location will get more business.
