“@PoPville Romo left his window post to enjoy the sunshiney day. Needless to say, I was star struck.”

And a reader sends a clip of the Best Metro Driver (go to 30 second mark):

  • Always find myself on his train during the school year. Funny guy.

  • Romo looks so sad. 🙁

  • I was on the circulator when the OP was taking the picture–I thought it was funny…because I would have done the same thing. he was so cute all loungey on the stoop.

  • I used to always be on his train. It’s really entertaining. I always wondered if he did it for fun or if he was practicing for a career in voice overs.

  • he is my favorite metro driver!!

  • not to be a hater, I think the guy is great, but I’m on his train for a 25 minute commute multiple days a week and I have to say that he never shuts up. End of the day, I’m just trying to read a few pages before getting off the metro and this guy talks constantly between stops. Earbuds and music do not help! Very funny though, and it is one of the few times when I see tourists on Metro and they don’t annoy me because they are digging this guy. I’m very conflicted.

  • Given the choice between either walking Columbia Rd. or Calvert to get home, I have been taking Calvert lately just to see Romo. He’s been out a lot due to the beautiful weather and it absolutely makes my day to see him. Love you, Romo!

  • Love this guy! I commuted to Rosslyn several years ago and always loved it when I got on his train. He really is part DJ/part metro conductor. Never had a bad ride with this guy and absolutely love that someone called him out for acknowledgment. A real delight as far as I’m concerned.

  • Yeah I like this driver. I catch him some mornings and he brightens my day.

  • He picks up the rush hour from Vienna. I get him as a driver at least twice a month. Love him. One day he was real kool and said AWWW YEAHHHHHHHHHHH. That’s right folks.

  • @Anonymous August 5, 2013 at 3:58 pm: I’m with you, this guy is so irritating. It’s cute for about one stop until you realize he’s going to yammer like this for the whole rider.
