Metro operations from WMATA:

Metro will operate normal weekend service on all rail lines throughout the weekend of August 24-25 to accommodate visitors attending events for the 50th Anniversary of the Historic March on Washington. The only exception will be Franconia-Springfield Station, where trains will depart every 24 minutes, rather than the usual 12 to 20 minutes. All other 85 stations will have service every 6 to 12 minutes during daytime hours.

Metro will provide additional customer service staff at key stations to provide assistance for visitors. On Saturday, guests attending the event on the National Mall are encouraged to use the following four stations:
• Farragut North
• Farragut West
• Smithsonian
• Arlington Cemetery

Entry points to the Saturday event on the National Mall will be located near 17th Street NW on both sides of the World War II Memorial. Foggy Bottom Station is recommended for guests with disabilities only.

Vehicle Access to streets around Lincoln Memorial and the area of the march on Saturday, August 24, 2013 and for the “Let Freedom Ring” program at the Lincoln Memorial on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 will be limited. The following is a summary of routes and street closures and their status.

Saturday, August 24

14th Street Bridge to 14th Street – All traffic will be diverted by MPD onto the Southeast/Southwest freeway beginning at 5:30 am
Roosevelt Bridge – Traffic coming across the Roosevelt Bridge will be diverted into northbound Potomac River Expressway to Pennsylvania Avenue or Whitehurst Freeway/K Street.
Memorial Bridge – Restricted to pedestrians and authorized vehicles only
Key Bridge – Open to all traffic
Chain Bridge – Open to all traffic
11th Street Bridges – Open to all traffic
Clara Barton Parkway operating under weekend schedule (two-way traffic all day)
Rock Creek Parkway – Open to traffic (weekend traffic schedule in effect throughout the park)
Southeast/Southwest Freeway – Open to all traffic
South Capitol Street Bridge – Open to all traffic
Sousa Bridge – Open to all traffic from east of the river
East Capitol Street – Open to all traffic. Roadways near RFK Stadium are primary routes for charter tour bus operators.
Benning Road – Open to all traffic
New York Avenue – Open to all traffic
3rd Street Tunnel – Open to all traffic
Woodrow Wilson Bridge – Open to all traffic

The United States Park Police will put in place the following road closures on National Park Service property. These closures are necessary in order to secure Memorial Bridge and Independence Avenue for March Activities.
