  • Is Taqueria Distrito Federal losing their sidewalk seating?

  • I wondered the same thing. I hope not!

    • I hope not as well since they don’t have AC inside which basically makes it a no-go in the summer. They have the best tacos in DC IMHO.

  • i assume this isn’t the same Tinto in Philadelphia by Jose Garces?

  • I live right next door at 3465. The owner of this place used to run Bossa. I believe the taqueria might lose some of their space, but I know Luis (owner of TDF) will put up a fight.

The owner of the new place said he would keep it quiet, so I’m hoping the live music is low key when they do have it. I’m excited about the potential for this new place.

Maybe one day the house with the blue door that is always littered with trash will get fixed up too.

    • You are correct that the owner of Tinto was associated with Bossa, but he was not the manager – he was the co-owner and was primarily responsible for building out the place and setting the concept.

  • I live a few blocks away from here, and it sounds like a great addition to the growing upper 14th St corridor of Columbia Heights! We could use a place with good music.

  • Having watched the neighborhood change over the last 11 years, I’m always excited when another small business comes to the area. And South American fusion sounds like a promising mix of the old and the new of what makes Columbia Heights a great place to live.

  • I can’t wait for this place to open! This part of 14th Street is definitely coming up, and Tinto will be a great addition. I hope we get a sneak peek at the menu soon too.

  • Tapas? Wine? In my hood? CAN’T WAIT! Veggie options please 🙂

  • i can’t wait for Tinto to open! the concept sounds absolutely BRILLIANT — south american food, with live music?? yes!! the owner used to run Bossa — he’s a guy that really cares about the neighborhood and DC so i know this restaurant will not only have a great vibe/food but will operate with respect, which is important to me…

  • This place sounds FABULOUS! Can’t wait!
