  • Definitely a great location — close to all the bars and restaurants of 14th Street, all the new stuff on 9th, walk to work anywhere in Metro Center area, but not directly on a loud/crowded thoroughfare — but all that’s reflected in the price. Two roommates and you’re still paying $1460 for it!

  • I live near here, but never been inside. This is a strange building in that the entrance has a modern, European-ish remodel, but the rest of the building is in a huge colonial brick style. Over the past two years or so they have been remodeling. The landscaping is a huge improvement. It appears they are trying to rebrand their tenants, too (from larger immigrant families to younger college students). The pictures look nice. Given how odd the place is, it feels like a slight risk for the price. I love the neighborhood.

  • I rented here a few years ago (summer of ’09) and a washer or dryer in the laundry room on our hall caused a fire. The only reason we knew there *was* a fire at 5-something in the morning was another tenant banging on my door yelling “fire!” repeatedly. No alarms, no sprinklers. The stairwell doors were also unmarked from the inside, and a fence around the perimeter of the exit door kept me from immediately getting away from the building. Building management was 100% unresponsive to my concerns about safety, so I moved out within a month or so. The fire was pretty minor, but could have been a terrible situation had the fire dept. not arrived so quickly.

I would recommend that whoever moves here does some due diligence to make sure the building is safer.

  • Anybody know why “The Mondrian”? I.e. , is there any connection the artist?
