Taqueria Nacional Opens Next Week at 14th and T St, NW – Check Out the Menu

Taqueria Nacional
1409 T Street, NW

Dear PoPville,

Walked by the new Taqueria Nacional on T last night, they were doling out free tacos between 6 and 7. The place looked great! They’re doing a friends and family event tomorrow and the owners said they expect to open sometime next week!

  • Bit of a taco glut around 14th st. forming, eh?

  • OMG! I used to work in 444 N. cap which housed the original. So DAMN good. Fish/chorizo/steak tacos amazing, yucca fries and dip crazy good. I don’t see it but I HOPE that they serve is their tortilla soup. Best. Soup. EVA!

  • The quality of this place had gone a bit downhill before it closed up to move, but I’m hoping they come back reinvigorated. Love the fish tacos, yucca fries (the dip really makes it), tortilla soup and tostadas!

  • Looks like that menu spent the night in someone’s back pocket and is doing the walk of shame this morning!

  • Very exciting. And there is no such thing as a taco glut. It’s called a taco cornucopia, and it’s glorious.

  • Traitors. May the taco gods frown upon their new location. Every time I walk by Johnny’s Half Shell at lunch I can taste the yuca fries w/ that salsa verde and chorizo tacos.

  • Their huevos rancheros is about 1.5 lbs of eggs, beans and delicious, btw – for $6.

I do not see tacos de lengua on the list.

Also, what spirit do you put in an horchata?

  • I get the bus at 14th and T every morning, so there may be some breakfast tacos in my future…..

  • please be good please be good please be good please be good please be good

  • It’s been a few years since I worked near 444 N. Cap, but the lamb tacos used to just be a special. They are delicious, so I’m thrilled they’re on the permanent menu now.

At least the prices aren’t jacked up like most of the rest of the new businesses opening on 14th. Really bums me out this wasn’t open when I lived just down the street, would have made for great breakfast visits.

  • I would love to give these guys a scathing review on yelp – but they aren’t even on yelp yet. Absolutely horrible service. it’s a shame because the one on capitol hill was great. oh – and the workers all wear these weird jumpsuits – like prison uniforms or caddy uniforms- they are miserable as is everyone else that just paid $11 for three tacos. Go to a mom and pop place in mt. p or coheights instead.
