Random Reader Rant and/or Revel

You can talk about whatever is on your mind – quality of life issues, a beautiful tree you spotted, scuttlebutt, or any random questions/thoughts you may have. But please no personal attacks and no need to correct people’s grammar. This is a place to vent and/or celebrate things about daily life in DC.

Rave: This is the first Saturday I’ve been able to sleep in all month.

Rant: I slept till noon. I hate sleeping until the afternoon. I feel like I wasted most the day.

Rave: I’m supposed to go to Opera in the Outfield today with friends.

Rant: This weather. Why couldn’t the glorious conditions of yesterday carry over?! I hope the event doesn’t get cancelled.

  • Rant: Apartment hunting in this city is akin to Chinese water torture.

Rant: I’ve been searching for over a month now. Just on Thursday, my partner and I were told that our application was first and more than likely about to go through for a house in Truxton Circle that was huge and affordable. And then last night the landlord called to tell me that they made a mistake on the last applicant’s credit check and they are actually getting it.

    Rant: I hate everything today.

Rave: shopping in NYC. I bought my first pair of Doc Martens. Now I’m breaking them in. It feels like a good analogy to my current mid-life crisis: have a plan, enjoy even small successes, and know that eventually things will be just fine.

Rant: the automatic spell-check. I HATE going back to correct the “corrections.”

  • Rant: a friend of mine cancelled on our plans to go to a play this afternoon because she wasn’t feeling well and needed to stay in bed all day. Now she’s posting pics on FB of her day trip out to VA. Seriously. What a jerk.

  • Just moved into my new condo in dc and it’s been over two weeks and I still have not recieved my mail. I did a forward address form online, but no mailed has arrived to my location. SMH

    • It’ll take a while. After I moved a block down the road, a friend called me a week before her kid’s 1st bday party upset because I hadn’t RSVPed. I finally received it in the mail a month after the party (8 weeks late).
