Homicide in the 600 block of Edgewood St, NE and Shooting in the 900 block of Delaware Ave, SW

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting which occurred in the 600 block of Edgewood Street, Northeast.

On Saturday, March 30, 2013, at approximately 2:09 am, patrol units from the Fifth District responded to the 600 block of Edgewood Street, Northeast for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The decedent is identified as 33-year-old Irving Jones, Jr. of Northeast, Washington, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. This morning, [March 30th] at approximately 3:35 AM, members of the First District were flagged down in reference to a shooting. Members responded to a residence in the 900 block of Delaware Avenue, SW, where they discovered an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, who was conscious and breathing, was transported to a local hospital for treatment. A second victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment after sustaining non-life threatening injuries while fleeing the scene. Lookout for (2) black males, slim builds. No further description at this time.
